Pond Life in the Country

Last week we had the hottest week anyone could remember for vacation. After a few days of suffering, we took to the water.

First there was simple dunking. Dakota was the primary beneficiary since he was the one insisting on wearing a fur coat. It was amazing how much he perked up when he was wet. He looks a little dubious, or perhaps disgusted in this photo, but mostly he looked happy to be wet.

The amazing thing is that when Dakota is wet, he weighs five times more than dry. When he tries to walk with his coat soaking wet, he staggers like a drunken sailor.

Of course the heat broke Sunday just as Ellie and I headed back to New York. Jim wisely decided to prolong his country exposure and may never return.
