Rosy Prospection

Am reading Gretchen Rubin’s THE HAPPINESS PROJECT. She talks about rosy prospection–the anticipation of happiness is actually greater than the happiness experienced. This rang so true for me. It explains why it is important to enjoy the buildup before a big event or something one is looking forward to. I have always wanted to prolong that sense of expectation. And it explains the vague sense of let down when an event or something long anticipated has taken place.

There is much that can be taken from this. Enjoy the future as well as enjoy the present. Looking forward to an event can be more than half the fun.
